Download Options

Downloading Your Design

When your design is ready, you can download it as a print-ready file to print at home, take to a print shop, or share digitally. This article covers how to download, what each setting does, and which settings to use for common situations.

Can't download? Check with your shop first.

If the Download button is grayed out, or you see Downloads Left: 0, the shop you bought from has limited downloads for this item. Shops can set a download limit or an expiration date. Corjl can't change these limits, so please contact the shop where you purchased your item. Their name appears under your order (for example, "By DigitalParties4U").

Additionally, if you don't see a download button and only see "Approve Proof" then your seller/designer is will process your order and no downloading is needed to complete your order.

Check your downloads before you start

You can see how many downloads you have left without opening your design.

  • On your orders page: each item shows Downloads Left next to it, before you click Open Order.
  • Inside your order: each design shows Downloads Left under its name.

How to download your design

  1. Open your order and click Download at the top of the editor. The Download Design window opens.
  2. Choose a Download File Format.
  3. Choose a Paper Size.
  4. Choose which pages to download.
  5. Turn on any print options you need (see below).
  6. Use the arrows under the preview to check each page.
  7. Click Download.

Your file saves to your computer's Downloads folder at full resolution. The file name includes your design name and paper size, so you can tell multiple downloads apart. Open the file to check it before printing.

Downloading on a phone or tablet

On a phone, the editor looks a little different. Tap the download icon at the top of the screen to open a menu with your options:

  • Print via Corjl Prints — order professional prints of your design, with no downloading or printing at home.
  • Download JPG or Download PDF — save the file to your device. You'll only see the formats your shop made available.

Where the file ends up depends on your device.

iPhone and iPad (Safari)

  1. After tapping Download, tap Download again if Safari asks.
  2. To find your file, tap the downloads arrow in Safari's address bar, or open the Files app and go to Downloads.
  3. If the PDF opens in a preview instead, tap the Share button, then Save to Files.

Android (Chrome)

  1. After tapping Download, watch for the download notification at the top or bottom of the screen.
  2. Tap the notification to open the file, or find it later in the Files or Downloads app.

Tips for mobile

  • The Download Design window may need scrolling on a small screen to reach all options and the Download button.
  • If you're printing, a computer usually makes it easier to check the preview and send the file to your printer. You can also email or AirDrop the file to a computer after downloading.
  • Large or multi-page downloads, especially Zip files, may take longer on mobile data. Wi-Fi is faster.

Download settings explained

File format

Corjl can download designs as PDF, JPG, PNG or SVG. The shop you bought from chooses which of these are available for each item, so you may see only some of them.

  • PDF is best for printing, at home or at a print shop.
  • JPG is an image file, handy for sharing by text, email or social media.
  • PNG is an image file that can keep a transparent background.
  • SVG is a scalable file mostly used in design software and cutting machines.

Paper size

Choose the paper you'll print on: Design Default Size, Letter (8.5 x 11 in), Legal (8.5 x 14 in), Ledger (11 x 17 in), A4 or A3.

Your design stays the same size whichever paper you choose. Choose Design Default Size to download just the design with no extra paper around it. Use Design Default Size if sending file to a professional print company.

Pages

By default, all pages download. To download only some pages, uncheck Select all pages, then type the pages you want in Page numbers. Separate single pages with commas (1, 3, 5) or use a hyphen for a range (2-4).

Show Bleed

Adds an extra 0.125 in of your design's background around the edges. Print shops trim into this extra area so no white slivers appear at the edges of your finished piece. Turn it on if your printer asks for bleed.

Show Trim Marks

Adds small lines at the corners showing exactly where to cut. Helpful when you or your printer will trim the design by hand.

Fit Multiples Per Page

Prints several copies of a small design on one sheet to save paper. This option is available when your paper is larger than your design. Corjl fits as many copies as possible and rotates them automatically, and the preview shows the result.

For example, a 5 x 3.5 in card fits:

Paper size Copies per sheet
Letter (8.5 x 11 in) 4
Ledger (11 x 17 in) 8

Tile Different Designs on Page works with Fit Multiples Per Page. Leave it off to repeat the same page across the sheet, such as many copies of one invitation. Turn it on to place different pages side by side, such as table numbers 1 through 8.

PDF Page Background Transparent

When you choose a PDF on a paper size other than Design Default Size, you may see this option. It leaves the paper area around your design transparent, so only your design prints.

If you're... Format Paper size Options
Printing at home PDF Letter or A4 Fit Multiples Per Page for small items
Using a print shop PDF Design Default Size Show Bleed and Show Trim Marks, if your printer asks
